Supporting promising young people in our community.

Scholarships

The John Cummins Memorial Fund is proud to support secondary students and young people experiencing disadvantage, and who are motivated and striving to achieve their potential.

Our scholarships and educational grants support promising young people at a time when they need it.

We seek to acknowledge students who are show promise, talent, determination and commitment.

We work closely with:

  • NCAT Northern College of Arts and Technology; and

  • Footscray Secondary College.

Our annual scholarship program supports students at these two colleges, and provides scholarships of $1,000 to up to six students from each college.

The closing date for 2022 scholarships is Friday October 14, 2022.

Because of COVID-19, we have been learning solely online. The John Cummins Scholarship provided me with school necessities such as an up-to-date laptop with all the new technology and ready for me to use to continue my studies at home.

Grants

Our scholarship program commenced in 2007.  We have awarded 370+ scholarships and granted a total of $442,000 so far.

Our focus is on Educational Grants, rather than individual scholarships (other than those listed above).  An example of our grants include:

  • An innovative re-engagement program provided by Corio Secondary College;

  • Homework Clubs in partnership with Australian Communities Foundation;

  • Partnering with HOPE CO-Op to support access to education for students from asylum seeker background.

Further information about our grants, email us at [email protected].

This scholarship makes such a huge difference to students and their families. You should be so very, very proud. It’s such a wonderful legacy.
