Fundraising & Scholarships

In the short term our fundraising obviously supports our aims. In the medium and long term we are seeking to raise funds to build a sustainable fund that generates sufficient income to not only sustain but to expand our activities.

Our fund will focus our activities on fundraising and collaborate with partners to distribute funds and achieve our aims.

We have established two subcommittees to distribute funds in line with our aims.

Distribution of funds to the Austin Hospital

We have already distributed $50k to the Austin hospital.  We are working closely with the team at the Austin and funds are being used to employ a part time nurse/allied health professional. The role will be to support patients diagnosed with brain tumour and their families. It is expected that the person will commence in May. This position is for 16 hours per week for 2 years.

Scholarship Fund

We are working closely with the Melbourne Community Foundation to establish a scholarship fund to support disadvantaged young people in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne (John was a Northern suburbs boy)!

In our inaugural year 23 students were awarded JCMF Scholarships. Students were assisted with the cost of text books and materials, travel, uniforms, excersions, PC's, and equipment for a pre-apprenticeship course.

Funds were distributed to...

Banksia Latrobe Secondary College
Coburg Senior High School
Fitzroy High School
Northcote High School
Northland Secondary College
Northside Christian College
Thornbury High School

and a student from Broadmeadows studying at Swinburne University.
